Biodata Guadalupe Aguado

Dr. Aguado is associate professor at the Facultad de Informática and the Delegate Head of the Applied Linguistics Department at UPM. She is MSc in Translation by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and she received her PhD in English Philology by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).

Her current research activities include, among others: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Terminology and Translation in the field of information technology, as well as the cooperation between the ontological field and the terminological field, especially in its application to the Semantic Web. She is a member of the Ontology Engineering Group at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has collaborated in different projects. The most representative projects are: Lifecycle Support for Networked Ontologies (NeOn).(FP6-027595).CONTENTWEB, Technological Platform for the Semantic Web: Ontologies, Natural language Analysis and e-commerce ; Ontogeneration: Query System for information retrieval by generating texts in the Chemicals field (A 9706). She has also been the head of other projects: Plataforma de anotación híbrida para la web semántica. (PlanH-SemWeb)(Reference 14286)

She is the author of one book on the problems of Computer Terminology, /Diccionario comentado de terminología informática/, and has co-autored and co-edited other books including: "Reflections on language use" (2005), and “La investigación en lenguas aplicadas: enfoque multidisciplinar”(2001). She has also published different articles and chapters of books on the above issues. She has been the coordinator of the Doctorate program on “Lenguas para fines específicos: un enfoque multidsciplinar: Análisis, metodología y nuevas tecnologías”, given by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, since 1999.

She occasionally acts as a reviewer in several conferences and journals on LSP, terminology and ontologies. She also participates in the Master in Translation at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Master in Information Technologies at the UPM and has also been invited as a lecturer in other universities (University of Alicante, Málaga, Burgos, Castelló, Las Palmas, Autónoma de Madrid, among other places). She is also a member of the CTN-191, AENOR.
